What do I want to know about assessment? I want to know about the knowledge and skills required to gather information about student achievement. I also want to know how to use the assessment process (planning for assessment, gathering evidence of learning, applying professional judgement) and its results effectively to promote success. In addition, I want an understanding of the principles of sound assessment. I want to know how to use, from a variety of sources, information that accurately reflects how well as student is understanding the curriculum expectations in a subject. Furthermore, I want to know how to know how to use assessment to improve student learning. I want to know about the different types of assessments and when to use them (anecdotal, rubric, checkbrics, rating scales, tracking sheets, mark recording). I also want to know how many sources and what kinds of sources I can gather information from to assess how well as student is doing. ...
