The Ministry of Education emphasizes the significance of developing learning skills and work habits in children. Students benefit when teachers model the skills and habits and explain how they will be assessed and evaluated. The development of these skills and habits needed to succeed in school and life starts in the early grades.

Students will be provided with learning opportunities in order to develop their learning skills and work habits. There is a “learning skills and work habits” section on progress reports and report cards. These include responsibility, organization, independent work, collaboration, initiative, and self-regulation.

This resource describes what effective internal evaluation is, what it involves, and how to go about it in ways that will enhance educational outcomes for students. It draws on knowledge about internal evaluation and schools that have used it to inform the development of strategies successful in raising achievement. 

Evaluating in the measurements of success. This leads to a summative assessment of current practices within the school, then informs future planning for learning and teaching. Evaluation is important for accountability, performance, and planning.

It is crucial for teachers to choose appropriate modifications and accommodations in order to make the content more accessible to ELL students. ESL modifications for lesson plans that will make learning easier including alternate response, advance notes, extended time, etc. 

Teachers learn strategies for adapting materials and providing accommodations ELL students. The first step to accommodate ELL students in reading is to promote reading. ELL students should be provided equal access to curriculum through the use of accommodations.
